Commvault

Commvault is a popular backup and data protection software that companies use to keep their important files and systems safe. It works like a super-smart digital safety net that automatically copies your business data so you can quickly recover it if something gets lost, damaged, or hacked. It stores these backup copies in S3-compatible object storage, which acts like a huge, reliable digital warehouse that can hold massive amounts of information without breaking the bank. By using S3 storage, Commvault can easily scale up as your data grows, keep multiple safe copies in different locations, and bring back files fast when you need them. This combination gives companies peace of mind because their data stays protected, costs stay manageable, and recovery happens without complicated technical headaches.

Connection / Setup

  1. Create an account and log in to DiskSpace
  2. Click I'm ready to set up my storage
  3. Enter Bucket Name following the instructions
  4. Click Create Bucket and wait for it to be generated
  5. Find your Endpoint URL, Access Key, and Secret Key in the S3 Client Configuration section for use below

Connect Commvault to DiskSpace.sh (S3-compatible storage)

DiskSpace.sh is fully S3 API compatible and requires path-style addressing. Follow the steps below to configure your Commvault storage library.

Connection Steps
  1. In the Commvault Command Center, navigate to Storage > Cloud and create a new Storage Library.
  2. Select Amazon S3 (or S3 Compatible) as the storage type.
  3. Enter the following connection details:
Endpoint URL
Full endpoint provided by DiskSpace.sh
Access Key ID
Provided by DiskSpace.sh
Secret Access Key
Provided by DiskSpace.sh
Region: Leave blank or use us-east-1
Important: Path Style Requests
DiskSpace.sh requires path-style URLs.
Commvault must be configured to use path-style addressing (not virtual-hosted style).

Troubleshooting Tips
  • Ensure the bucket name is correctly entered in the "Bucket" field.
  • Verify that "Use Path Style" or "Path Style Access" is enabled in advanced options.
  • If connection fails, confirm your Access Key and Secret Key are valid.
  • Test connectivity using the built-in Commvault test option before saving.
  • Endpoint must include https:// and should not contain the bucket name.
