Veeam

Veeam is a popular backup and recovery software that helps businesses protect their important files, databases, and virtual machines. It uses S3-compatible object storage as a secure, affordable vault in the cloud where these backup copies live, keeping them safe from local disasters. Veeam Backup & Replication uses S3-compatible object storage as immutable backup repositories with ransomware protection.

Connection / Setup

  1. Create an account and log in to DiskSpace
  2. Click I'm ready to set up my storage
  3. Enter Bucket Name following the instructions
  4. Click Create Bucket and wait for it to be generated
  5. Find your Endpoint URL, Access Key, and Secret Key in the S3 Client Configuration section for use below

Connecting DiskSpace.sh S3 Storage to Veeam

DiskSpace.sh is a fully S3-compatible object storage service. Follow the steps below to configure it as an S3-compatible repository in Veeam Backup & Replication.

Connection Steps
  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication console and navigate to Backup Infrastructure > Backup Repositories.
  2. Click Add Backup Repository and select Object storage > S3 Compatible.
  3. Enter the following connection details:

Important: Path-Style Requests Required

DiskSpace.sh requires path-style URLs (not virtual-hosted style). Veeam will automatically use the correct format when the endpoint is entered as shown above.

https://s3.diskspace.sh/bucket-name/key
Troubleshooting Tips
  • • Ensure you use https://s3.diskspace.sh (no trailing slash)
  • • Verify your Access Key ID and Secret Access Key are correct
  • • Confirm the bucket exists and your credentials have proper IAM permissions
  • • If connection fails, try setting Region to us-east-1
  • • Check that your firewall allows outbound HTTPS traffic to s3.diskspace.sh
Once connected, you can select an existing bucket or let Veeam create a new one. DiskSpace.sh is fully compatible with all Veeam S3 features including immutability when enabled at the bucket level.
