Transmit

Transmit is a simple and friendly file transfer app for Mac that lets you move files between your computer and online storage. It works like a supercharged Finder window that connects directly to your cloud folders so you can drag and drop photos, videos, or documents without opening a web browser. It uses S3-compatible object storage as a giant, reliable digital warehouse that holds your files safely and lets you access them from anywhere. This connection means Transmit can upload or download huge batches of files quickly without slowing down your computer. People love it because S3 storage keeps everything backed up, scalable, and protected while Transmit makes the whole process feel as easy as moving files on your desktop.

Connection / Setup

  1. Create an account and log in to DiskSpace
  2. Click I'm ready to set up my storage
  3. Enter Bucket Name following the instructions
  4. Click Create Bucket and wait for it to be generated
  5. Find your Endpoint URL, Access Key, and Secret Key in the S3 Client Configuration section for use below

Connect Transmit to DiskSpace.sh (S3-compatible storage)

Transmit supports S3-compatible storage through its built-in S3 protocol. Follow the steps below to connect to DiskSpace.sh.

Connection Steps:
  1. Open Transmit and click the + button to add a new connection.
  2. Select S3 as the protocol.
  3. Enter the following connection details:
Full endpoint provided by DiskSpace.sh
Can be left empty or set to us-east-1
Important: Path-Style Requests Required

DiskSpace.sh requires path-style URLs (not virtual-hosted style). Transmit will automatically use the correct format when you enter the endpoint above.

Example URL Format:
https://s3.diskspace.sh/bucket-name/key
Troubleshooting Tips
  • If connection fails, ensure you are using the full HTTPS endpoint: https://s3.diskspace.sh
  • Verify that your Access Key and Secret Key are correct and have proper permissions.
  • Try setting the Region explicitly to us-east-1 if you encounter signature errors.
  • Confirm that Transmit is configured to use Path Style requests (this is automatic when using the custom endpoint).
  • Check your firewall or network settings if the connection times out.
Once connected, you can browse, upload, and manage your buckets and objects directly within Transmit.
