Zerto (HPE)

Zerto is a simple and powerful backup and disaster recovery tool that keeps your important business apps and data safe. It constantly copies your virtual machines and files so that if something goes wrong like a ransomware attack or hardware failure, you can get everything running again quickly with almost no data loss. It works by taking small, frequent snapshots of your systems and sending them off to safe storage without interrupting your daily work. Zerto uses S3-compatible object storage as its long-term vault, automatically moving older recovery points into this affordable cloud storage so you can keep months or years of backups without filling up expensive disks. This S3 approach makes recovery fast and cheap while giving you the peace of mind that your data is protected in a secure, scalable place that can be restored from anywhere when disaster strikes.

Connection / Setup

  1. Create an account and log in to DiskSpace
  2. Click I'm ready to set up my storage
  3. Enter Bucket Name following the instructions
  4. Click Create Bucket and wait for it to be generated
  5. Find your Endpoint URL, Access Key, and Secret Key in the S3 Client Configuration section for use below

Connect Zerto (HPE) to DiskSpace.sh S3-Compatible Storage

DiskSpace.sh provides fully S3 API compatible object storage. Follow the steps below to configure Zerto with your DiskSpace.sh credentials.

Connection Steps:
  1. Log in to the Zerto Management Console.
  2. Navigate to Setup > Backups > Repositories.
  3. Click Add Repository and select S3 Compatible as the storage type.
  4. Fill in the connection details as shown below.
  5. Click Test Connection to verify, then save the repository.

Use this exact endpoint URL
Can be left empty or set to us-east-1
Important: Path-Style Requests Required

DiskSpace.sh requires path-style URLs. Zerto must be configured to use path-style addressing (not virtual-hosted style).

Example Configuration:
Endpoint URL: https://s3.diskspace.sh
Access Key: AKIAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Secret Key: ****************************************
Region: us-east-1
Path Style: Enabled (Required)
Troubleshooting Tips:
  • • Ensure you selected Path Style or Force Path Style in Zerto's advanced options.
  • • Verify your Access Key and Secret Key have full S3 permissions on the target bucket.
  • • Confirm the bucket exists in your DiskSpace.sh account before testing.
  • • If connection fails, try leaving the Region field empty.
  • • Check that your firewall allows outbound HTTPS traffic to s3.diskspace.sh on port 443.
